Your words and drawings--so evocative, wise and wonderful!! Thank-you, Rebecca!
When I lived on a small farm that was a foster home for adolescents in Maine for 7 months when I was 19 (I was a "counselor"), I got to throw hay bales in a truck, make maple syrup (building the sap house, tapping the trees and stoke the fire to boil the sap), shovel chicken poop, ride and fall off a horse, squoosh potato beetles between my fingers, milk a cow . . . I became vegetarian that year. And I've had many many experiences in Nature, often hiking, that were awe-inspiring. Nature is my happy place--it's where I feel the most belonging.
I am humbled by your words, Marian. Thank you so much for the compliments! And it is my joy to share.
What an amazing experience you were able to have at such a young age; it sounds like it deeply affected you and lead to a significant life-long decision to become a vegetarian. This post made me reflect once again on my relationship with eating animals. It is a huge topic and one that I have thought about many times to explore via my writing here. It can be very triggering, so I must take my time and proceed gently.
Nature is my happy place, too. There is never any judgment or comparison there; we are completely free to be ourselves with only the Earth to bear witness 🙏🏼
It's great reading and knowing more about the point of view of your life. Thanks for sharing and keep writting!
At the end of the day we really have to break our conditioning that death is the opposite of life and realize it's just one thing with two names. One thing that continuously change its shape, that can only flow because it ebbs.

Wow Rebecca. Just following your list of what you have done and been in relation to Mother Earth was a magical mystery tour. So beautiful! Thank you❤️
Thanks Ian! It brought tears to my eyes as I wrote it. I didn't even know it wanted to come out. A magical mystery tour for me, too! ✨
